Mrs. 埃尔希Urueta波洛克 is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Tulsa Honor Academy. She began her education career as a 2008 Teach For America Corp Member in St. Louis where she taught sixth grade students with special needs. Two years later, Mrs. Urueta Pollock moved to Chicago to teach ninth and tenth grade ELA for the Noble Network of Charter Schools. In 2012, Mrs. Urueta Pollock moved back home to Tulsa to continue her work with literacy as an eighth Grade ELA Teacher and the Literacy Specialist. In 2013, Mrs. Urueta Pollock was accepted into the prestigious Building Excellent Schools Fellowship and spent the 2013-2014 academic school year receiving rigorous professional development in preparation to found Tulsa Honor Academy.
Originally from the El Paso/Ciudad Juarez area, Mrs. Urueta Pollock grew up in Tulsa, and has always called east Tulsa “home.” She is honored to serve her community and work alongside the best scholars, families, and educators.
Mrs. Urueta Pollock graduated from The University of Oklahoma with a B.A. in International Business and Marketing.
Ms. Yuen is originally from Tulsa and is the Chief Operations Officer at Tulsa Honor Academy. She is a graduate of the University of Oklahoma and received her bachelor's degrees in special education and social sciences and her MBA from Washington University in St. Louis. She began her education career as a high school special education teacher at Oologah High School and transitioned to school operations after earning her MBA. She is excited to be a part of the THA Familia because of THA's high expectations and desire to constantly improve.
Mrs. Freudenheim is originally from Tulsa, OK and is the Chief Academic Officer at Tulsa Honor Academy. She is a graduate of the University of New Mexico and received her degree in Communication and Philosophy. She holds a master's degree in Education Administration from the University of Oklahoma. She was a 2010 Teach For America Corps Member and taught Special Education, Math, and Science. She was a member of the founding team at Tulsa Honor Academy.
Madison Curley is originally from Tulsa, OK and is the Director of External Affairs and Communications at Tulsa Honor Academy. She is a graduate of the University of Oklahoma with a bachelor's degree in Public Relations and a master's degree in Public Administration. She is excited to be a part of the THA Familia because of THA's commitment to providing a rigorous, college-preparatory education to all scholars.
Jessyca Williams is originally from Ardmore, Oklahoma and is the Student Supports Manager at Tulsa Honor Academy. She is a graduate of Prairie View A&M University, Prairie View Texas. She participated in the Marching Storm band and received her degree in Psychology in 2009. Jessyca earned dual certifications in general and special education and worked in special education in Baton Rouge, LA for 8 years before joining the THA Familia, where she is excited to continue helping students achieve their highest levels of potential while preparing them for college.
Ms. Markley calls Florida her home state but was born in Ohio. She is the College Readiness Manager for Tulsa Honor Academy. In 2015, she graduated from Florida State University with a B.A in Secondary Education and graduated from Christian Brothers University with an M.A in Education in 2017. She began her education career as a 2015 corps member for Teacher For America in Memphis, TN where she taught 7th and 8th grade History. Two years later, she moved to Nashville, TN to teach 9th-12th grade History and Seminar. While teaching Seminar, she found her passion for College and Career Readiness and has spent the past four years helping scholars develop their individual career plans and seeing them walk out their goals. She is so ecstatic to work alongside THA scholars, families, and staff to assist in the pursuit of their goals after high school.
Ms. Sarah Luna is originally from Tulsa, OK and is an Instructional Manager at Tulsa Honor Academy. She is a graduate of Oklahoma State University and received her degree in Elementary Education. Ms. Luna has worked in education for over 15 years. She has taught, coached new teachers, and worked as a principal. She is excited to be a part of the THA Familia because she believes in the mission.
Jalessa Hurd, originally from Ashdown, AR, has passionately pursued education reform and equity throughout her career in Tulsa. While attending Pepperdine University and earning a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, her love of educational equity began to grow as she taught in preschools with Jumpstart. During that time, Jalessa also joined the DC Arts and Humanities Education Collaborative, where she secured funding through grant writing and organizing fundraising events to ensure transportation for students to educational partnerships throughout Washington, D.C. After graduating in 2017, she moved to Tulsa to continue her devotion to education with Teach For America as a fourth grade teacher at Celia Clinton Elementary. Jalessa then joined Reading Partners as a Program Manager in 2019 to further her journey of educational justice through encouraging a love of reading with students by empowering community volunteerism. While in Tulsa, she met her fiancé and has 2 sons. Now she is very proud to continue to be part of the THA Familia as an ELA Instructional Manager to further devote herself to educational equity and reform.
Steven Ramos, is originally from New York, NY, and is the English Language Development Manager of Tulsa Honor Academy. He is a graduate of Azusa Pacific University, where he received his M.Div. and his Master of Arts in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (MATESOL). He is excited to be a part of THA's mission to prepare 100% of its scholars to be college ready, especially those who are growing in the English proficiency.
Perla Alvarado was born and raised in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a bachelor's degree in Journalism with an emphasis in Public Relations and a minor in Enterprise Studies. She serves Tulsa Honor Academy as one of the College Readiness Advisors where her passion for helping underrepresented communities guides="w-dyn-item w-col w-col-4" role="listitem">
Angelo Chee is originally from Honolulu, Hawaii, and is a College Readiness Advisor at Tulsa Honor Academy. He is a graduate of Oral Roberts University and received his degree in communications. He was one of the co-founders of a private school in Brazil called Talmidim Christian School and has served as a missionary of the Assemblies of God in Brazil for 10 years. He is excited to be part of THA Familia because of the vision to empower students with the tools they need to be successful in college.
Debbie Watts is originally from McAlester, Oklahoma and is currently the Federal Grants Coordinator at Tulsa Honor Academy. She is a graduate of the University of Tulsa and received her bachelor's degree in Music (Flute Performance) with a minor in History. She received her master's in Public Health from the University of Oklahoma Health Science Center and worked on a Doctorate in Public Health in Environmental Science there as well. She studied Biomedicine at the Arkansas College of Osteopathic Medicine immediately prior to her employment at THA. Her background includes 23 years with the Tulsa Health Department, where she supervised and managed in the Food Protection Program. There, in addition to general managerial responsibilities, she trained and mentored new employees, wrote and managed federal grants and compliance with the National Retail Food Program Standards, participated in the Food-Borne Illness Response Committee, and reviewed and coordinated the Plan Review/Construction program for new and remodeled businesses. She attained certifications through the Food and Drug Association, was a Mentor with the National Association of City-County Health Departments, a Councilperson and Officer with the national Council for Food Protection, and was a Fellow of the CDC Environmental Public Health Leadership Institute. She is excited to be a part of the THA Familia because she wants share her vast knowledge of Public Health with the school to protect and prevent illness, and make a safe learning environment for all the Scholars, Faculty and Staff.
Mrs. Joshi is from Duncan, OK and is the Assistant Principal of Operations at Tulsa Honor Academy Middle School. She is a graduate of Southern Nazarene University with a bachelor's in Psychology. She also graduated from Oklahoma State University with a masters in Political Science. This is her fourth year at THA.
